Association of Indomitable Housewives

Association of Indomitable Housewives
If you ever need to go to the hospital for anything at all, never do it on a Monday morning. The  place is more filled up than   a bank  hall,  with  patients  and  their  relatives wearing gloomy faces and   waiting  patiently  in  the  reception awaiting, do  not  think  it  is  all  gloomy  in the  waiting   room  ,  you may be  surprised  you  could  get  some current  gossip right  here   as  you  will  always  find  some  patients  putting  up  a  brave  face    and  trying to  appear  as if   they  are  not  anxious to  see  the  doctor, after  all   the  waiting  room is  not the  “Death roll” Doctor .  Barrister. Miss, Tochukwu Precuios, was  among  those  putting up  a bold  face  and acting  as if  she  had  rather  not  been  there ,  actually,  she,    would  not  have bothered  to   come to  the  hospital today  except that  she  was  tired  of  answering   so  many senseless  and  irrelevant  questions  from her  clients  who  were  always  asking  her  what  caused the  bruises and  injuries  on  her  face.
Everybody  likes  a bit  of  popularity ,  but  nobody  wants  to  be  seen  as a patient  in  a  hospital   ward.  And  Barr.  Was  glad  that  nobody  has  spotted  her  out   yet , not  until   that   good  for  nothing  Mallam  Musa   whom   she   did  a  rape  case  for   suddenly  screamed   her  name :
Hey   Barrister, what brought you here?
I  thought    it  was  only  poor people  that  get  sick  in this  country  too!
And you think lawyers are rich people abi? when  clients  like  you   refuse to  pay   your  bills  for  legal  service  you   receive  or  you think  federal   government   is  paying  me  one  salary abi?
Tochukwu   replied  him    with  a  stout  and  angry  face to  enable  him get off her  side , but  the  Mallam   continued   from  one  topic to  the   other,   Tochukwu   was  so  irritated  that   she  did  not  hear  the  Nurse  call  out    her  name   to  go  in  to  see the  Doctor.
She  finally  heard  her  name and   moved into  the  consulting  room,  where  the  doctor was going through  the  file  of  the  last  patient, the  doctor was  a  middle  age  woman  with  a  quaint  look  and  a  bi  focal  lenses  that   gave   her  the  look  of  a ghost . She  continued  her  work  as  if  oblivious  of  the  presence  of  Tochukwu  and  then  suddenly   raised   her  heard and  gave   Tochukwu   a  quick glance  especially    at  the  part of  her  face   where  she  had  an  injury
Your faces is badly bruised, was  it  one  of  your  clients that  hit  you  or  what?
Oh!  It is just a minor domestic accident.
You mean to  say  your  husband, battered  you  or  you  had   a  real  domestic  injury , like  for real?
The  Tochukwu  looked  at  the  doctor  scornfully  , and  hissed, look here   doctor  : I  came here  to  treat  my  injury  not  to  be  quizzed or interrogated  by  you,  I saw   the police  station  before  coming to  your  place.
Sorry  if  it  hurts  my  dear, but   you  must  understand  that  I  am  a housewife  like  you,  I  suffer   the  same   problem  like so  many  other  house wives  out  there in  our   society.  As  a  medical  doctor  so many  women  come to  me  regularly  for   treatment,  some of  them   have   to  undergo  plastic  and  corrective  surgeries   , just  because  one  beast  that  calls  himself  a  husband  decides  to  make his  wife  a  punching   bag.  It  is  an  issue   that   bothers  me    so  much,  due  to  the  regularity  of   the  problem,  I  can  easily   tell  when    a  wife   had  an  accident   or  when   she  has   been  battered  by  her   husband. Usually   when  ,   she   is   battered  by her   husband   she  has  sever  psychological  depression  even  if  the   injury is  a minor one.
You   are  right,  I  am   a professional  woman  myself  I am  a lawyer  and  every  day   I handle   cases  of  women   who  bring  up  one  case  or the other   against   their  husband , the  problem is  endemic   and   I believe    something  should be    done  about it.
That is  quite  amaze  madam,  you  say  you  are   a  lawyer,  who  handles  cases  of   women   who   have  filed  for  divorce  against   their  husband, yet  you  live   with  a  husband   who   can   so  severely    batter  you  like this?
Actually  , he is  not  my  husband, we  are  getting  married  soon,  precisely  by   December in   St .  Dominic Island in the Caribbean
Are you   crazy?   You intend to   marry a man   who batters you?  Is that love or what!
Love!  Did  I  hear  you  say  love,  do you  think   I  am    a  teenage   who  is  have love  blues  for the  first time or  what,
So  what  will  probably  make you   marry  a  beast   who  even   before  he  solemnizes  the  relationship, has  already  started  beating    and   battering  you  like this?
Well,  I  do not  intend to  stay  in  the   marriage  for  long, if  we  get  married  this  December  I  am  sure  that  before next  year  in  june  I  would have  divorced  ,
I  wish you look;  , That  is  if  he  does  not  kill  you  before  December
you  do not  realize  how  big divorce   business is  do you ?  My  man   is  one  of   those  Idiots   With   a  “big   surname” his  father   is  a  former  Governor  of     one   of  the  southern   states,  I  met  him  in   a  Paris  Nite   club  ,  where  I was   one  of  his  “groupies” that  was  when  I  was  running  my   LLM  programme in  England ,: Women,  Alcohol  ,  Cocaine,  Marijuana  etc   something   lead  to   the  other  and   he  has  continued  to   persuaded  me  to  marry  him.   Of   course  he  is  an  unrepentant  addict  of  everything  useless : Women,  Alcohol  ,  Cocaine,  Marijuana  etc,I  will  put up  with  him  till   we  get  formally  married  in   December   ,  then   I  will  quickly   file  for  divorce   soon   after  then,  by then I  will be  free  to  use  his   big name  which   is  like   a password  to  get  big  contracts   and  have  half  of  his  wealth  for  myself  if you  know  what  I mean, hehehe
You  speak  like  a very  shrewd    business  woman,   I  just  pray   you  realise  your  heart   desires   yourself, That  is  if  he  does  not  kill  you  before  December
God Forbid  Doctor, I know   how to  handle  him  ooo ,  I give  him  sweet   sugar    that  he  cannot   resist.
And   you think   that  is  enough  to  keep  him  or   what ?
Forget  it   abeg ,  you  appear  to  be  very  lucky  yourself,  are  you  single?
Hahaha,  shallow  waters  run  deep my  sister, that  is the   same  problem  I  am   facing   at  home ,  many  people  see  me  outside  and admire  me  that   I  have  open  shining   golden  teeth’s and   gap   tooth  in  front  but  very   few  realise  that  it  was  that  beast  of   a  man  that  calls himself  my   husband  that  removed   my  front   tooth , because ,  according  to  him  I  had   the  guts  to  go  and  insult   one    of his  girlfriends,
So your husband is a womaniser also?
You  are  either  very   funny  or  you  are  just  trying to  make  fun  of  me,    do you  know  any  man  that  does  not   womanise in this  world?
They   could be, perhaps   a reverend   father or   something
Do  not even   go  there   girlfriend,  my  first   two  kids  belong  to  a  reverend   father,   who  paid  my  fees   from  secondary   school  up   through  medical   school,  and  I  was  not   the   only    girl   who   enjoyed  such   sponsorship   from   him  my   dear .  When   he  died  at  least   8  other  children  attended  the  burial all  looking   like  the  late  catholic priest. The   other  priests  who   were  not  aware  of  his  clandestine  and  nocturnal  activities  were   busy   saying   the  late  priest  had  so  many    brothers  that   looked  like  him,  not  knowing that   , they were  his  children
It   appears  you  feel   for  this  your  Rev  father   man   more   than   your  current   guy,  was   the  priest  a more correct l man  than  your  present bobo? ,  like  you  know  what  I mean   abi?
Go  away,   you are  crazy , like   I  said  ,  he  died  and  life  must  go .  My  family   started    putting  pressure  on  me to  properly  settle  down  and   get  married   so   I just   had   to  settle  down   with  the  Idiot  I had  in my life  then, because  .  Ever   since  we  got  married, I have  become   a punching  bag to  that  idiot    who  will  come   home  every   night   drunk.
Too  bad ,   I think  so  many  women  are suffering  the  same problem  in  silence,   we  must  find   a  way  of  stopping   this  nonsense  of  wife  battery in   our  society,  women must   be treated   with  dignity  and   respect    not  like punch  bags. And  what   we  need  do  right  now  is  to  form  an association to   solve  our  problem  together
You   are  saying    we   form  an  Association   of   Battered  Housewives   A.B.W   or  what ?
Yes   we  need  to  form  an  association   but  ,  the  name   you  suggested  sounds  too  defeatist    we  need  a  name  that  will  inspire  us  to action ,  help us   defend  our  common  violated  rights  and   advance  our interest   both indivuals  and  collectively
Lets call ourselves Women of  Integrity or  Women  of  faith
No  that  sounds  too  churchy,  I  prefer  we  call ourselves  :  Association  of  indomitable  Housewives
That   sounds aggressive
Yes ,  we  need  to  pursue  our  goals  aggressively  not  passively, and   the  name  is  like  a  caution    to the  world  that   we  are  not  women  that  can  be  dominated   or  suppressed anyhow
So  how   will  that   stop  the  men  from  battering   us  ,  how  will  that  stop  domestic  violence , is  it that  we  are  going  to  be  practicing  wrestling   or  martial   arts  at  our  meetings  or  what?
You   cannot  rule  that  out,  although  like always ,  violence  will  be  ,the  last  resort, largely  however,  we  shall  be  gathering   together   to   develop  strategies  to  ward  off  aggression   from   the  men.
Okay, when   do  we  start,
Maybe  next   week,  yes  next  week,  we  will  meet   to  elect  a  Caretaker  Exco  and   formulate  the  vision  and   mission   statement   for our  noble  association
Very  well then  my  sister  in  arms   we  shall  see  next  week

8 Ways Satan Keeps You from Worship By Joel Osteen

8 Ways Satan Keeps You from Worship By Joel Osteen
Satan wants to keep you from worshipping the One he hates. He wants to keep you from doing the right thing, whether that is spending time alone with the Lord in Scripture and prayer, attending and participating in public worship services, or any other thing that will draw you closer to the Lord. Think of the times that you decide to stay in bed instead of getting up to read the Bible; think of the times you scrapped family worship for no good reason; think of the times you stayed home from church instead of going to worship. Think of those things, and see which of these temptations is the one Satan brings to you.
1. He makes the world look beautiful, attractive and desirable. Many people profess Christ and see him as desirable for a time. For a while they enjoy private and public worship and do it all with enthusiasm. But before long Satan presents to them worldly things and makes those look more beautiful and desirable than Christ, and many souls are drawn away. “Where one thousand are destroyed by the world’s frowns, ten thousand are destroyed by the world’s smiles.”
2. He makes you aware of the fact that those who worship the Lord have often faced danger, loss and suffering. There are many men who would obey the Lord and worship him, except that they fear the consequences. Satan loves to present the high cost of obedience. This was the case for many in Jesus day: “Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue” (John 12:42).
3. He gives you an awareness of the difficulty of worshipping well. Satan will whisper, “It is difficult to pray well, it is hard to spend time with the Lord and to persevere until he speaks to you through his Word, it isn’t worth the effort of going to church and being warm and friendly and engaging with other Christians.” Whatever God tells you to do, Satan will present it to you as a great burden or as something you do poorly, and in this way he will keep you from it.
4. He leads you to wrongly understand the implications of the gospel. Christ has done everything for you and given everything you need in his death and resurrection. There is nothing left for you to do but rejoice in Christ and to serve him out of the joy of salvation. But Satan will lead you to make wrong inferences from what Christ has done, encouraging you, for example, to believe Christ has freed you from the need or desire to spend time with him or to gather with other Christians. He will allow you to see the gospel, but do all he can to make you understand it all wrong.
5. He shows you how many of those who follow Christ with obedience are poor and despised. Satan will ensure you see that those who are most interested in worshipping God are the poorest and most despised of all. You can see echoes of this in John 7: “The Pharisees answered them, ‘Have you also been deceived? Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed’.”
6. He shows you that the majority of the people in the world, along with the great and mighty of the world, do not worship the Lord. Satan will ask, “Don’t you see that the great, the rich, the honourable, the intellectual elite, the wise, the most honoured, and the sheer majority of people do not trouble themselves with worshipping the Lord? You would be much better off to be like them. After all, why would you think that you, of all people, have this figured out?” To have success here he will intentionally draw your attention away from Exodus 23:2 and many similar passages: “You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice.”
7. He fills your mind with unimportant and distracting thoughts while you are attempting to worship. He afflicts you with so much distraction and futility that you are tempted to say, “I have no desire to hear from the Lord in his Word, no desire to speak to him in prayer, no desire to spend time with other Christians in worship services.” He crowds out the very thought of worship by the sheer weight of lesser concerns.
8. He encourages you to take comfort in past performances of your religious duties and in that way he convinces you to stop trying. He reminds you that in the past you read so much and prayed so much and spent so much time in worship. And having reminded you, he convinces you that you have earned the right to coast for a while. “You already know this. You’ve already done this. You’ve already prayed this. You’ve been to better worship services than this.” And through it all he inclines you to rest from worship.
Let me share just a couple of choice quotes. Here is one about the value of a soul:
Oh, the soul of man is more worth than a thousand worlds! It is the greatest abasing of it that can be--to let it dote upon a little shining earth, upon a little painted beauty and fading glory--when it is capable of union with Christ, of communion with God, and of enjoying the eternal vision of God.
And here is one about the Lord’s kind providence in difficult circumstances:
I remember a story of a godly man, that, as he was going to take a ship for France, he broke his leg; and it pleased Providence so to order it, that the ship that he would have gone in, was sunk at sea, and not a man saved; so by breaking a bone, his life was saved. So the Lord many times breaks our bones--but it is in order to the saving of our lives and our souls forever. He gives us a portion that makes us heart-sick--but it is in order to the making us perfectly well, and to the purging of us from those ill humours that have made our heads ache, and God’s heart ache, and our souls sick, and heavy to the death. Oh therefore let no danger or misery hinder you from your duty. ‘Had saw not these things perished, I would not have been safe’, said a philosopher when he saw what great possessions he had lost.
The Tweet able Puritan
  • Where one thousand are destroyed by the world’s frowns, ten thousand are destroyed by the world’s smiles.
  • The honors, splendor, and all the glory of this world, are but sweet poisons that will much endanger us if they do not eternally destroy us.
  • Riches are like manna; those that gathered less had no want, and those that gathered more, it was but a trouble and annoyance to them.
  • Happiness lies not in those things that cannot comfort a man upon a dying bed.
  • You may as soon fill a bag with wisdom, a chest with virtue, or a circle with a triangle, as the heart of man with anything here below.
  • A man can have enough of the world to sink him, but he can never have enough to satisfy him.
  • It is a sad and dangerous thing to have two eyes to behold our dignity and privileges, and not one to see our duties and services.
  • The worth and riches of the saints is inward.
  • Christianity is not a talking--but a walking with God.
  • It is better to go to heaven alone--than to hell with company!
  • Vain thoughts pass through the best hearts; they are lodged and cherished only in the worst hearts.
  • Christ is the crown of crowns, the glory of glories, and the heaven of heavens.
  • Though saints have little in hand, they have much in hope.
  • Outward sins are of greater infamy, but inward sins are of greater guilt.
  • Oh the spots, the blots, the blemishes that are to be seen on the face of our best duties!
  • Oh the water that is mingled with our wine; the dross that cleaves unto our gold!

Should I marry a Man who has never bought me a gift in our Relationship

Should I marry a Man who has never bought me a gift in our Relationship
Hello my name ….. I  read   your   Past  blog post  titled Breaking  Up  without  Breaking  Down and   I must  confess,  that the  write up  was  very  helpful as   it  made  me  to  critically  access  my  relationships  and  take  bold   but  necessary  decisions  that  will  help  me  in  my  area  of  relationships, the  problem  is  that  I  have  dated  this  guy   for the  past  three  years,  everybody  knows  us  together and  I  must   confess  that  he  is a  very  nice  guy,  he  calls  me  very   regularly,  takes  me out    to  various  costly   restaurants and  I  know  he  cares  for me   so  much.  The  Problem  is  that   he  has  never  one  day  bought  me  a  gift   throughout  the  three years  that  we  have  dated. He  proposed   to  me    six  months  into  our  relationship,  i.e  when   we  were  in   four  hundred  level in the  university  but  I  refused   and  told  him   that  we  should  wait  till  we  have  successful  graduated  from  school  before  we  begin  preparations for  marriage  , but the  real  reason  I  refused  was  because  I felt   his inability to  buy me gifts  was because  he  was  still a  student  and  that  may be  if  we  graduate  and  get  a  job  ,  he  will  be  buoyant  enough  to  express his  love  not  just with words but through giving. You must  understand  , that  I  am  a very simple  girl  with  simple  tastes  and I am  in  no  way  materialistic. But  in  as  much   as buying  and  spending  is not the  only indicator  of  true  love, I think  it  is still  a vital  means  of  measuring  love  that  most  not  be  ignored  in  a relationship.  After school( Uni- Jos) we  continued  the  relationship   , but  now   we  have  both  graduated  from   school  and   are  both  doing  well  in  our  various  careers and   he  has continued  to   ask  me  to  get  married to  him  .  But   even  as  we  speak  he  has  not  bought  me  a  single  gift  in  his  life,  the  highest  he  will  do is  to  take me  to  a  restaurant  and  buy  me   snacks   and  coke
I  love  him,  but  I  am  scared  that  if  I  get  married  to  him , he  will  be   a greedy  husband, I need  help  from  you  and  your  blog  readers  ,  should  I  marry  a  guy  that  Has  not   bought  me  a  single  gift  ?
This  message  was   sent   in from   a  reader   who   needs  advice  to  help   her  take  decision  concerning   a  relationship  that  she  is  inside  ,your  advice   and  counsel   is  highly  welcomed  as  it  will  help  not  just  her  but  other  numerous   other  readers who  may be  having   the   same  problem  right  now
